No Popcorn For You!

The Cheat

The Cheat

Good news! My dentist was able to work me into the schedule this week, and what I’d begun to imagine was going to be something awful, turned out to be fine.

Eaerlier this week I suspected I’d scraped my gum with my toothbrush or maybe cut it on food — however one does that. Without the gross details, I tried to avoid a dentist visit with frequent brushing, gentle flossing and peroxide rinses; but by Wednesday I decided it was time to stop pretending to be a Dentist and go see one.

The Dentist asked me what I’d done to hurt my mouth. I suspected the popcorn – it’s my fave snack and I’d been eating a bunch of it lately. He admitted his favorite snack is ‘Nilla Wafers. And then he said he suspected the popcorn was at fault, too. After poking at my sore gum with a lot of sharp instruments, he said it was a simple cut, and treated me to a slightly more painful antiseptic rinse while explaining it will take the cut about a week to heal. I asked about the peroxide rinses I’d been doing, and he agreed that had been a good idea. And after some quick paperwork, he sent me on my way. Well, not before adding, “Oh, and you probably shouldn’t have any popcorn for a while.”
